Most of the stuff I know about traveling for free I learned through this amazing wiki: https://hitchwiki.org/en/Main_Page. It contains hitchhiking spots, places to find free acommodation and much more
But here is my personal recommendation
How to find a free place to sleep
I use these sites to find a stranger that’s willing to let me sleep at their house. It sounds weird but you have to trust there are more good people than bad in the world, I used some of this sites a lot and never had a problem.Couchsurfing: The biggest site for accommodation, it was great until they force you pay to use it. Has a lot of users so it’s a good tool in case you can’t find anything on the other sites
Trustroots: Best site, it was created for hitchhikers so people are ok with you sending a last minute request. Has a map with the approximate location of the host
Bewelcome: Oldest of the sites, has big amount of users but some of them haven’t been online in years. Good overall.
Welcome to my gardenGet food and accommodation in exchange for work
Workaway: Best site because it has the biggest amount of users and very different options like family homes, hostels, boats, language schools. You have to pay 40 Euros to use it for A YEAR Volunteerbase: Completely free and it works like Workaway, but has less users and less information on the host profiles Transportation
I usually hitchhike when traveling, you can find all about hitchhiking in this site: https://howtohitchhike.com/For cheap buses in Brazil, use the sites Buser or Wemobi
Unite a lot of good people to spread good things around the world.
You too!
